A 15-year-old girl has committed suicide in California after reportedly struggling with the stay-at-home order during the coronavirus pandemic.
Jo'Vianni Smith was found dead in her home in Stockton last week, where she left no note explaining her death.

According to Smith's mother, Danielle Hunt, she believes that stress from the health crisis may have played a role in her daughter's death.
"I felt that I was doing all that I could as a parent to leave the communication open, sometimes we may need to stop and worry about the kids that we don't think to worry about," Hunt said in an interview with

In reaction to her death, her former coach told Extra Inning Softball in an interview:
"Her name is JO'Vianni ''Jo'' Smith was a great athlete... (she) was a brighter star with a great personalty and a huge heart and a bright future."
"It’s been extremely hard to relate to what these kids are going through. I have daily conversations with my 2 high schoolers and encourage them to reach out to their friends and teammates. I can’t imagine what Jo was going through...''
