Doctors found large ball of hair in woman's stomach

Medical experts found a giant ball of hair in the stomach of a woman who had a rare habit of ingesting her own hair.

The giant hairball is measured at about 15 centimeters long.

The 38-year-old unamed woman's obsessive hair eating had her suffering from weight loss, weakness, nausea, vomitting and a swollen abdomen.

She visited the hospital and was immediately rushed into surgery where doctors found a large ball of undigested hair clogged-up in her digestive tract.

She is said to have been suffering from Rapunzel Syndrome, a syndrome caused by trichotillomania. Trichotillomania is a disorder that causes a patient to develop an irresistible urge to pull out her own hair and eat it.

The woman was disharged after six days after receiving treatments for malnutrition and was advised to eat food high in protein, according to Independent.
