Insurgents kill six soldiers in Borno
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly killed six Nigerian soldiers in an ambush in Borno state. The atttack happened near Banki junction.
The victims of the ambush includes two privates, two sergents and two lance corporals.
According to a military source, the incident, which occurred on Sunday morning, happened when two companies of soldiers with about 70 soldiers from the army 151 task force batallion were on a rescue patrol.
"We heard information that some people were being held by captives and that was why some soldiers were mobilised to carry out a rescue patrol," according to TheCable's source.
"The soldiers ran into an ambush a few kilometers that they took off, and six of them were killed."
No official comment has been made by the army's spokesperson, Sagir Musa. In a phone call made to him by PremiumTimes, he confirmed he wasn't in Nigeria.
